CLUVA examined how climate change could affect African urban areas over a multi-decadal horizon, with particular attention to floods, sea-level rise, droughts, heatwaves and desertification.
Its interdisciplinary approach connected:
Social Vulnerability
Urban Ecosystems And Urban–Rural Interfaces
The Built Environment And Critical Lifelines
Institutional Capacity And Governance
Climate Projections And Risk Modelling
The project developed methodologies for climate vulnerability and risk assessment and explored how their results could inform urban planning, adaptation and governance.
Capacity building and cooperation between European and African scientific institutions were also central components.
Key themes:
Climate Change Adaptation · Urban Resilience · Vulnerability · Heatwaves · Floods · Governance · Capacity Building
