AMPLIFY addresses whole-of-society disaster preparedness, exploring how artistic, creative, cultural and participatory approaches can complement more conventional forms of risk communication and preparedness.
The project starts from the recognition that access to information alone does not necessarily translate into preparedness. How people understand and respond to risk is also shaped by experience, culture, trust, relationships and the way complex scientific evidence connects with everyday life.
Its work brings together:
Disaster preparedness
Risk communication
Participatory approaches
Artistic and creative methods
Cultural engagement
Co-creation
Inclusion and accessibility
Community participation
AMPLIFY will explore how interactive and participatory formats can engage diverse publics, including groups that may be underserved by conventional communication channels, and how these approaches can strengthen risk awareness, dialogue and preparedness.
A central element is the active involvement of citizens and stakeholders not simply as recipients of information, but as contributors to the development, testing and evaluation of preparedness approaches.
Key themes: Disaster Preparedness · Risk Communication · Co-creation · Participatory Approaches · Cultural Engagement · Inclusion · Community Resilience · Science–Society Interface
