The HuT focuses on strengthening prevention and preparedness for climate-related extremes through a transdisciplinary approach that connects people, technologies, scientific knowledge and decision-making.
The project addresses six major categories of climate extremes:
Floods
Droughts
Heatwaves
Wildfires
Landslides
Storms
Ten demonstrators across Europe provide real-world settings in which researchers, technical experts, practitioners, policymakers and local communities jointly test and assess risk-reduction approaches.
Particular attention is given to prevention and preparedness, exploring how technological and scientific solutions can become more effective when combined with local knowledge, behavioural understanding, stakeholder engagement and co-production.
Key themes: Climate Extremes · Disaster Risk Reduction · Multi-hazard · Preparedness · Climate Resilience · Human–Technology Interaction · Co-production · Stakeholder Engagement
